Introduction
The European Cup is a series of races organized by the International Biathlon Union. It has become a circuit for those athletes not yet ready to compete on the World Cup, though the competition is often still at a very high level. All nations, including those not in Europe, are permitted ten athlete starts in Europa Cup races. Most of the races are held at non-World Cup venues in central Europe. Some of the events welcome modest crowds. They are open to both senior- and junior-level athletes.
