After some successful testing and shooting in Lake Placid, I drove back to Vermont yesterday. Tomorrow, I fly to Minnesota. Minnesota is a flat state, and since I will be spending nearly three weeks there, I wanted to get in some mountain time while I still could.
Earlier today, I hiked up to the summit of Camel’s Hump, elevation around 4000’, and to the summits of a few lesser mountains. It was cool, but rather hazy. I could see some large cumulus clouds developing over Lake Champlain, rising over the mountains.

Northern Maine is not particularly mountainous itself, so it was nice to be able to hike to the top of a mountain and find myself above tree line with a view. I had not hiked in a while, so my legs were not in hiking shape. Running down the mountain certainly made my legs a bit sore.
Later today, I went to the shooting range and did some testing. My shooting continues to improve. The great thing about biathlon is that there is always room for improvement in something. It will be a long time coming before I claim that I am the best I can be.
Peace,
