Training camp in Utah complete
September 28, 2004
from Heber City, Utah

For the past three weeks, I have been in Utah for an altitude training camp. It surpassed all of my expectations. I made significant improvements in many areas – shooting, strength, ski technique, lactate threshold. Being surrounded by real mountains, or on top of them, was a motivational plus. And, in the end, I survived without major injury.

These three weeks have been some of the most productive weeks of training I have ever had. I would like to thank Lynn Adams and his family for letting me stay with them in Heber City. Also, the people at Soldier Hollow – Howard, Scott, and Steve – helped me with housing arrangements and kept the venue in immaculate condition. Thanks to Ian Harvey of Toko for providing me a few good hiking suggestions, too. Take a look in the photo gallery for a few of the views from my hike yesterday in the Uintas.

Today, I fly to Vermont for a few final weeks of training before the competition season begins in November in Norway.

Peace,
