Summer has been making its return to Northern Maine the past few days. I think I might be a little sunburned from yesterday. It is a big change from two weeks ago, when I was skiing on snow. More than six months on snow is great, but I am looking forward to this warm weather as much as everyone else is.
With the snowmelt and heavy rains last week, I was glad that I live atop a hill, where the swollen and flooding rivers can’t touch me. What I cannot get away from though is the mud. On some of the trails, there are rivers flowing down them. The soft mud is so deep that often my feet become cemented into the ground.
Training has been in full gear for the past several weeks, though it has only been this week that my mind has truly committed itself. After more than a month of research, discussion, thought, and planning, I finally have a complete idea of what I will be doing over the next ten months. This is something that I didn’t have last season, so I am already ahead of where I was at this time last year.
A plan is useless unless it is followed, so now it is time for me to get it done.
Peace,
